Eucalyptus is a hardwood, resistant to outdoor use, which is why we use Eucalyptus from FSC-certified Uruguayan forests. The wood is already coated with a tinted oil, in order to offer you the most natural tone possible, while protecting the furniture for use outdoors.

Maintenance

This garden chair is coated with a tinted oil during manufacture. The impregnation of the oil varies according to the type of wood. A small residue may remain. Be sure to remove this with a cloth before using the chair for the first time. You do not need to apply oil to your new garden element, you can wait until the end of the summer.
 
Eucalyptus is a living material. As a result, its appearance changes over time and some cracks appear. This is normal and is what gives hardwood its much-appreciated authentic charm. Although robust and weather-resistant, Eucalyptus requires a little maintenance to prolong its life.
 
On a daily basis, remove leaves, standing water and dust. Wash stains and food residues with soapy water and a sponge. 
 
In spring and late summer, clean your garden furniture thoroughly and allow it to dry. Once the woodwork is completely dry, apply a thin coat of oil. Make sure that it does not rain for 24 hours after applying the oil.
 
If your eucalyptus chair has been exposed to a lot of rain, you may notice that the surface fibres have swollen a little and that the whole thing feels rougher. To remedy this, lightly sand the surface with fine sandpaper until it is smooth. Once the sanding is complete, apply a coat of oil to restore the colour of the garden chair.
 
The oil coat is what keeps the garden furniture from staining and allows it to withstand pollution, weathering and mildew. If you choose to let your eucalyptus furniture age without applying oil twice a year, it will take on a nice silver colour. However, it will no longer be protected.

Additional information

- It is important to winterise your eucalyptus garden furniture. Store it in a cool, airy place away from moisture. If you protect it with a cover, choose a polyester cover over a PVC one.
- Do not expose your garden furniture to direct or excessive heat.
