Table with casters
The Merida garden furniture set's clever design makes it perfect for small spaces. The set comprises of a rectangular table and 4 foldable chairs. This adaptable drop-leaf table is 100cm when fully open and 45cm when the sides are folded down. For easy storage, the chairs can be folded and stacked under the table.
The table has two casters, making it easy to move around. The table also has a 5cm diameter hole for a parasol.
The Merida set is made from eucalyptus wood. This means it's ideal for outdoor use. Eucalyptus is a hard, resistant wood. The wood used in the Merida set comes from Uruguay. It's coated with a colourless oil that protects it while leaving a natural-looking hue.
Once this Uruguayan eucalyptus has been chopped, it's left to dry before being sanded down and treated with a protective oil.
Its assembled using tongue and groove joints and galvanised hardware.
This FSC-certified wood product has been manufactured in an environmentally friendly way and guarantees sustainable forest management.
This table has a hole for a parasol. The parasol will need a base stand (not supplied) as the table cannot support it on its own.
This garden table comes pre-treated with a colourless oil. How well the oil infuses depends on the species of wood. There may be a slight residue. Be sure to remove it with a cloth before using the table for the first time. You do not need to oil your new garden furniture - you can wait until the end of summer.
Eucalyptus is a living material. For this reason, its appearance may change over time and some cracks may appear. This is perfectly normal and only adds to the authentic charm of this popular hardwood. Although sturdy and weather resistant, eucalyptus requires some maintenance to prolong its life.
Remove leaves, stagnant water and dust it on a daily basis. Clean stains and food residue with soapy water and a sponge. If the table is very dirty, you can gently scrub it with a small hard brush.
In spring and late summer, thoroughly clean your garden furniture and let it dry. Once the wood is completely dry, apply a thin coat of oil. Make sure the furniture stays out of the rain for 24 hours after you've applied the oil.
If your eucalyptus garden furniture set has been exposed to a lot of rain, you may notice that the surface fibres swell up a bit and that it feels rougher to the touch. To remedy this, use a fine grain sand paper and gently sand it until it feels smooth. Once sanded, apply a coat of oil to restore the original hue.
The oil will protect the garden furniture from stains as well as pollution, bad weather and mould. If you choose to age your eucalyptus furniture by not applying the oil twice a year, it will gradually become an eye-catching silvery colour. However, it will no longer be protected.
It's important to prepare your eucalyptus garden furniture for winter months. Store it in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place. If you protect it with a cover, choose a polyester rather than a PVC one.
- Keep your garden sofa set away from direct or strong heat.
- Do not leave damp sponges/cloths on the table for too long as this can make it rough to the touch.
